HOME RUN

Home Run project aims to take people who are suffering multiple disadvantage to the Great North Run in September 2018 through a programme of running and fitness.

Training sessions are on a Wednesday evening from 7.30pm until 9pm at the Inspire Centre, Calderdale College and are led by Damian Gibson, the personal trainer there.

It's a fantastic project which is gaining some real momentum. Get in touch with Craig on 01422 361515 or send email to Craig@calderdalesmartmove.org.uk to get involved.

We will also be needing volunteers in the coming months so get in touch if you'd like to help out.

UNDER ONE ROOF – CHARITY SLEEP OUT EVENT Friday 11th November 2016

This fundraiser is heavily sponsored by Aquaspersions - (Global suppliers of aqueous dispersions & emulsions products) who have made this night out possible.

This event will involve Calderdale SmartMove staff, our supporters and both Halifax Town FC and Halifax RLFC players and staff.

The aim is to sleep in one of the terraces of the Halifax Shay stadium for one night on November the 11th to heighten awareness of the plight of homeless individuals, especially at this time of year and raise funds through sponsorship.

Leading up to this “Under One Roof” fundraiser,  each participant is being asked to raise £100 through sponsorship, but of course there is no upper limit, and then to spend the night in the famous stands, in the depths of November, with organisers hoping to raise a total of more than £10,000.

For anyone who attended last year, you will know to bring plenty of warm, waterproof clothing and preferably a waterproof sleeping bag or sleeping system if you intend to try to sleep, along with soup or similar in a flask.

No tents!

The event will be ultimately controlled by The Shay Stadium and their staff, followed by Craig George and overseen by their designated first aid representative.

What was "Come Dine for SmartMove" October - November 2013?

This was SmartMove’s first ever public fundraising campaign.
The aim was to involve the public in raising as much money and awareness as possible, to help the homeless and vulnerably housed of Calderdale.
The events took place between the 10th October and the 10th November and were split into two different parts; “Dine In” and “Dine Out”.

"Come Dine In for SmartMove, 10th – 25th October"

The first part of the event was asking the public to host a dinner party at their home for friends, family and neighbours.

  • "The concept is simple, you provide the food, entertainment and whatever else you would like at your dinner party and your guests make a donation to Calderdale SmartMove. (Recommended donation of £10 per head)."

A selection of SmartMeals from our own recipe book are available Here.

.
"Come Dine Out For SmartMove, 26th October – 10th November"

The second part of the event was in conjunction with local pubs and restaurants throughout Calderdale. There is a full list of participating establishments for those who were on board with the event donating £1 from each bill for the 2 weeks to SmartMove.

This part of the event offered an alternative to hosting a dinner party, whilst still raising money and support for SmartMove, by popping down to a local pub or restaurant and £1 from the bill went directly to SmarMove.
